Dick Thomassian - Founder & President Emeritus

Dick Thomassian was born in New York City. He was also born again in New York City. He was called to the Gospel Ministry in 1951 and ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1955 at the First Baptist Church, Flushing, New York.

He graduated from Barrington College (Rhode Island) in 1955 and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY) in 1959. He received his Doctor of Ministry degree in Missiology from Luther Rice Seminary, Atlanta, Georgia, in 1994. Missiology is the area of practical theology that investigates the mandate, message and the work of the Christian missionary.

Dick served on the staff of several churches before accepting the call to join the staff of Whitesburg Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama. He served that church for 40 years from 1966 until he retired in 2005.

Because of his love for missions and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the masses of lost people, Dick has participated in evangelistic crusades in each of the 50 states in America and directed over 200 short-term INTERNATIONAL mission crusades in the world. He served as a Trustee of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (1983-1991) and he and his wife Lois served with the Volunteer Mission Service of the International Mission Board of the SBC in Israel (1986-1987).

It was his love for missions and desire to reach the lost that motivated Dick to become the founder of T.I.M.E. Ministries in 1996. He served as the President of that organization from its beginning until 2009 when he became the C.E.O. In February 2011 the trustees honored Brother Dick with the title of President Emeritus. He still serves as advisor and financial officer with TIME Ministries. However, most of his time and energy is devoted to the Friends of Nazareth project. You can learn more about this project on the TIME webpage.

Dick has served in numerous capacities with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Alabama Baptist Convention. He wrote the book  "Building A Local Church Mission Dream Team" in 1994. That book is available through the T.I.M.E. office.

Dick has two main interests: missions, winning the lost to Christ and taking pilgrims to the Holy Land through conducting Christian Bible Land Seminars.

He is married to Lois Teuscher (1956). They have three children: Tim and his wife Laurie live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where Tim serves as associated pastor of Grace Church. Joy and her husband Tom live in Flower Mound, Texas where Tom serves as the pastor of Living Hope Church. Jane and her husband Wes live in Georgia where he serves on staff of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. DIck and Lois have nine grandchildren.
